Just a few thoughts on this: The only way to be sure you are not getting water around the mast is to stay on board curing a HEAVY rainstorm. I found that I am getting some water that way. Water will also come down the inside of the mast from all of the openings for halyards, etc. There is no way to stop this on any boat. Check all of the plumbing up forward. I just found that the original shower drain hose (corrugated plastic) was cracked. It is clamped onto the fitting under the shower before assembly - you cannot get at it without cutting out the whole lower bulkhead next to the mast. What I did was as follows: I went in under the port quarter berth (next to the shower drain pump) with a reciprocating saw and cut a much larger handhole. I removed the stainless steel cover on the shower drain, and then removed the plastic nut on the fitting, and pushed the fitting out of the hole in the shower. I tried to pull the whole assembly out through the handhole, but it jammed in place. I was able to find an exact replacement hose fitting (Rule still makes it - it is a 3/4" nylon right angle fitting with a hose barb on one side and a threaded end with two nuts on the other end. I attached a new piece of extra heavy duty sanitation hose to this, and snaked it back through the original hole in the shower. It works fine. The heavy hose will last a lot longer than the corrugated stuff, and I can replace this if I ever have to. I have also plumbed a Y-valve on the intake of the shower drain pump. I plumbed the other leg to a bilge strainer right on top of the keel. The shower drain pump now works as an electric bilge pump too. | ||

Looking for assistance in finding source of leak. Rain water is collecting under flooring forward of mast but aft of V-berth. No signs of intrusion at chainplates, mast, through-hulls, at head or under V-berth. It seems to be coming under flooring of head. Has anyone else had similar leak or know of possible point of intrusion? | ||

BobGamble,My boat had water contained under floor in head.Problem drain hose leaking and water from washing down head was trapped. Solution Cut area from outside, replaced hose, put new wood in with a hole for seepage.Regards, Dick English |
