I just got a new seal for my hatch. It seems all of our hatches are Lewmar "Superhatch" Size 3. Lewmar itself no longer stocks spare parts for these, but they referred me to Florida Rigging & Hydraulics, who carry a full line. I found then very obliging - I got the seal for about $20, and they sent me 4 new stopper springs for nothing. Shipment was very prompt. Contact them at Rob Friedrich "Sales Guy" Florida Rigging & Hydraulics, Inc. USA (561)863-7444 "Please visit our website: " http://www.rigginghydraulics.com

What I did was to take the broken unit to a glass shop that has done hatch glass replacement. They went with plexiglass that was a little thicker and copper-tone - you can see out but not in. It ended up costing $250. Lewmar and I have not been working together lately. I have been trying to get a replacement spring for my Lewmar clutch for 4 weeks and finally got it last Friday. That made me rather uncomfortable at getting a hatch glass replacement from them quickley. |

You do not have to buy the complete hatch. I have a current Lewmar catalog from a distributor, in which Lewmar emphasizes that the acrylic (and seal for same) can be replaced. If you look at the frame around the acrylic, you will note that the hatch frame is in two sections - the two sections slide apart, and you replace the acrylic and seal. Sure beats the $500 or so for a complete hatch. If you have a current West Marine catalog, the copy on page 469 describes it pretty well. The Lewmar catalog lists the following contact: Lewmar USA in Guildford, CT: 203-458-6200, fax 203-453-5669. Deborah Davenport Glory Days #115 |

Loren, I think all the hatches were made by Lewmar? At least mine were (I have hull #5). Thankfully these guys are still in business, so you might give them a call and ask for their recommendation. |

The plexiglass in my forward hatch broke. Any suggestions on where I can go to get new glass installed? |
