Barry If you are referring to the partners, I have done mine, and you can see a lot of posts about this. I have not had trouble with the mast step on my 1984 short rig 9.1 "Shooting Star", which I sail in the Hudson River and Western LIS. I do a lot of fiberglass work, so the partner issue is not that big a deal. I agree with you on the flyer and the J30 - another great advantage of the 9.1 is the balanced rudder. If you are steering a J30 on a heavy day your arm gets REALLY tired because the rudder is unbalanced, and the tiller loads are high. The 9.1 rudder is balanced, and the loads never get very heavy. Anyway, good luck on the boat search, and I hope to see another 9.1 in western LIS next year. Mike Bergmann |

i have been racing my impulse 26 it is a light air rocket my wife insists on a bigger boat i still like to race i am looking at 9.1's i like the flyer but i dont like it's cabin the j 30 has a lousy cockpit so i am interested in a 9.1 there is one in mass on the cheap it has mast step and other issues so the price is only 17 but i am resisting urge to buy it..prefer a 9.1 with less issues have most of you done the mast step?? please advise barry in fairifeld,ct |

Deborah, Yeah that was us out in front. We also saw you out sailing. Nice to see so many 9.1s out on the water. I have been sailing out of City Island for the last 2 years however my wife and I just moved to Ridgefield CT and we want to keep the boat up here. We just need to find a reasonably priced marina or yacht club in Fairfield County (If that exist!). B.Rgds Christian Uecker Hound Dog |

Christian, Missed this posting until now, when the late-winter blahs have set in. We were sailing out of Greenwich / Indian Harbor that afternoon, and saw the 9.1's. There was one of them way way way out in front of the others. Since you have the former Sailin' Shoes, my guess is that was you. Right? Congrats to all of you, Deborah Davenport Glory Days} |

Good showing of S2 9.1s at the Stamford Denmark Race in CT on Sunday, 4 on the start line. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place belonged to S2 9.1s. Christian Uecker Hound Dog |
